Mental Health Crisis Management Workshop Recap
With the alarming rise in mental health challenges, including suicides, the Brickell Homeowners Association (BHA) took action by organizing a Mental Health Crisis Management Workshop last Thursday at 500 Brickell. Led by seasoned therapist Michelle Hernandez, the workshop equipped attendees with essential strategies for addressing mental health crises and fostering open conversations about community support.
During the event, the City of Miami Police shared details about their Co-Responder Team (CRT) initiative. This program pairs a licensed mental health clinician with a police officer to respond to non-violent Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) calls. The primary goal is to provide immediate mental health support and de-escalation for individuals in crisis, ensuring they receive the care they need in real time. Additionally, the City of Miami Police has a Victim Advocate Detail to assist crime victims.
