Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday
During the 2024 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, consumers have the opportunity to buy essential disaster readiness supplies without paying sales tax. This tax exemption initiative was enacted by the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis.
The first tax-free period starts on Saturday, June 1, and runs until Friday, June 14. A subsequent tax exemption window opens on Saturday, August 24, and continues through Friday, September 6. To aid consumers, businesses, and other stakeholders, the Department of Revenue has established a dedicated webpage offering detailed information and promotional resources.
The sales tax holiday does not apply to the rental or repair of any of the qualifying items. Additionally, the sales tax holiday does not apply to sales in a theme park, entertainment complex, public lodging establishment or airport
