Making Waves for a Cleaner Tomorrow: International Coastal Trash Clean-Up Recap
In a world where preserving our natural resources is becoming increasingly vital, the Brickell Homeowners Association, First Miami, Commissioner Eileen Higgins, and Miami Management, celebrated the 2nd Annual International Intercoastal Cleanup to create a positive impact.
Longtime advocates Silvia Perez, Stephen Chisholm, and Abby Ape' organized the event, and volunteers Elena Kasparis, Chris Sterwald, Matthew Sensgsourinh, Eddie Kring, Commander Valdes, and Ernesto Cuesta led the volunteer teams on land and sea. Volunteers from the Icon, Brickell Heights, and Miami Dade Pardon Campus were all in attendance and ready to serve.
The heart and soul of any successful cleanup event lie in the unwavering enthusiasm and dedication of the volunteers. Individuals from all walks of life united with a shared goal: making a tangible difference on our coastline. Families, friends, city leaders and concerned citizens gathered, armed with gloves and trash bags, determined to confront the issue of coastal pollution head-on.
Throughout the day, volunteers collected an impressive amount of trash. From plastic bottles and bags to discarded fishing gear, pillow cushions, bottles, PVC pipes, and more, removing every piece of litter from our coastline is a significant step towards a cleaner and healthier environment. The event also served as an educational opportunity, raising awareness about the detrimental effects of pollution on marine life and coastal ecosystems.
We were fortunate to have the support of Bioresponse and owner Manny Pozo, who generously volunteered their boat for the cleanup effort. Their contribution was instrumental in ensuring we could effectively collect ocean debris and significantly impact it. Thanks to the crew from Bioresponse, we could go above and beyond in our mission to clean up our oceans.
In addition to the International Coastal Clean up, First Miami host a monthly trash clean up. Recognizing that coastal pollution requires ongoing efforts, First Miami is committed to organizing regular cleanups to ensure that the coastal areas are consistently monitored and maintained. This long-term commitment to cleanliness and sustainability aims to create a lasting impact on the environmental health of our coastlines and serves as a reminder that our collective efforts must extend beyond a single event to truly make a difference. Together, we can work towards a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient coastal ecosystem.
The International Coastal Trash Cleanup was more than just a cleanup event; it was a collective endeavor to safeguard our coastline and promote environmental consciousness. With the unwavering support of First Miami, Commissioner Eileen Higgins, Miami Management, GlobalPro, and Bioresponse, we have taken a significant stride towards a cleaner and healthier coastal ecosystem.
As we progress, let us inspire positive change and ensure a brighter, cleaner tomorrow for future generations. ππ #CoastalCleanup #EnvironmentalStewardship #ProtectOurEcosystems #Sustainability
