Scooters in Brickell

Like them or not scooters are here for another few weeks. In December the City’s Commission granted an extension of the program to last until mid-February. Some of the ongoing concerns have been reckless riders, cluttered sidewalks, and littered scooters across our community. While many are in favor of the scooters many are also opposed to them.

Commissioner Ken Russell stated the following “In order to reduce Scooter clutter, the City is introducing drop zone hubs. 100 locations throughout the district where companies and riders will be incentivized to drop off their rental e-scooters.” The drop zone hubs can be found in the image below and they are scheduled to be rolled out in the next two weeks.

As of now, six companies are permitted under the pilot program: Bird, Bolt, Uber-owned Jump, Lime, Lyft and Spin. Each scooter operator is required to have 2 stickers with a unique ID number so that so parking and reckless riding issues can be easier to report.

What do you think of the drop hubs? Will they help? Let us know what you think in the comments.
