Dade Heritage Trust - Possible Sale to the highest bidder

The lease for the Dade Heritage Trust (the only museum in Brickell), was up for renewal but at Thursday’s City Commission Meeting, Commissioner Carollo proposed not renewing the lease but instead moving the house and selling the property to get a bigger return for the city. Carollo stated that a developer could go up to 48 stories high on this small piece of land.

After much resistance by the majority of the commissioners, the item was deferred to the meeting 2 weeks from last Thursday. The city is to look at the value of the land, the cost of relocating the historic home elsewhere, to decide if it’s worth selling the land to a developer instead of allowing the Dade Heritage Trust to extend its lease.
