Early Voting
Here’s an update on early voting from our neighbor and County Commissioner Eileen Higgins:
As we approach Election Day, I want to highlight the importance of voting, whether it’s your first time or your 100th time. It is a privilege and a civic duty we cannot take for granted. I want you to have the information you need to make a voting plan that’s safe and works for you.
Voting By Mail
Mail ballots are safe and secure. You can just mail it back or drop it off at any Early Vote location in a secure drop-box. Mail ballots should be sent back by October 17th. After that date, it’s safer to use the drop-box at an Early Voting site. Don’t forget to bring your ID.
Also, for mail ballots, it is extremely important you sign across the seal on the outside envelope and fill in your contact information. This makes it easier to contact you in case there’s any follow-up regarding your ballot. The number one reason ballots were rejected in the primary was because of missing signatures on the outside of the envelope. You can check your ballot status at the Elections Department website to make sure it has been received and counted.
Early Voting
If you want to vote in person, I highly encourage you to vote early so that our voting locations are not congested, you don’t have to wait in a long line and we can maintain proper social distancing at all times. We’ve implemented protocols and guidelines so that our poll workers and all those voting in person can do safely.
Please make sure to wear a face mask, use the hand sanitizer when entering and leaving, and stand at the marked designated areas when you come to vote in person. All of our poll workers will be wearing face masks, face shields and gloves and will be disinfecting common touch points frequently.
The closest Early Voting locations for our urban core residents are:
STEPHEN P. CLARK GOVERNMENT CENTER (Also an official ballot drop-box location) 111 NW 1ST ST, MIAMI
VIZCAYA HISTORIC GARAGE (OLD MUSEUM OF SCIENCE) 3250 S MIAMI AVENUE, MIAMI
FROST MUSEUM OF SCIENCE 1101 BISCAYNE BOULEVARD, MIAMI
Early Voting takes place October 19 through November 1 from 7 am to 7 pm.
Sincerely,
Eileen Higgins
Your District 5 County Commissioner
